My sister, Maria was a person I admired the most. She was my best friend from childhood until now, even though sometimes our harmony and cohesiveness were a little spiced up by a quarrel.
A quarrel was common in the status of brother and sister, but when you see our argument you would understand why we were hard to make up. But yeah, eventually we always made up.
"What the hell, Annie? Can you be silent? I'm watching a movie now, you know!" my sister screamed because I called her so many times, even up to half shouting at her.
"That’s because you didn’t answer when I called" I sighed. She was always this serious when watching "The 10th Kingdom", her favorite movie.
"I’ve warned you before, why did you still do it?" she said.
"However, the movie has played so many times and yet you’re still like that. The movie can be too boring, " I mocked her.
"Do you think your favorite 'West Side Story' is not boring as well? Just silence!" she was pouting. Why on earth she has to compare to anything? Ugh I hate it!
Finally the movie "The 10th Kingdom" has finished. Now again I called my sister. And again, she pretended she did not hear me.
"Maria! I want to talk..." I chased her.
"Later! I want to sleep first. Byeee," she said. She immediately went straight to her room. Why? Now that the movie was finished, she still would not talk and instead went straight to sleep! That’s her bad habit! I would definitely going to forget what I wanted to say when she was awake. But I could not possibly forget this time, because today was a special day. My birthday! I intended to remind her, because since morning I had not congratulated by my family. Even by my closest sister though! It was really like sixteen candles for me!
Throughout the day I tried to call my friends, but no one was there. Sleeping, or going out, at the toilet, playing, on vacation, climbing trees, on the roof tiles, on a match, on the streets. Always excuses!
Finally, all day I just sat on the porch in my house. Staring at sunset. Ah really a blue day, and night finally arrived...
~Ding~ the grandfather clock was clanging. It was already seven o'clock at night and it was very dark here. Members of the night came out which were packs of mosquitoes. They immediately seek blood, and my blood was their target. I tapped on it and two of them died instantly. I'd better go straight inside the house!
"Happy Birthday!!!" members of the family gathered, and no one was absent. They all greeted me and hugged me. In front of me was already full with gifts. The most beautiful gift from them actually was this surprise. I was just speechless.
"I thought you forgot!" I cried. My sister smiled.
"It's all the idea of your sister, Annie!" said Mom.
"I’m sorry Annie, about this afternoon," said Maria. I could only smile in tears.
"Thank you, sis" we both ended up hugging.
THE END
